Animals rescued from a Cohoes home came from Texas

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New information about the dozens of animals that were seized last week from a local home. Our cameras were rolling when more than 100 animals were taken from Empawthy Rescue Inc. in Cohoes. It’s a shelter that is not registered in the state we now know where nearly half of those animals came from.

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society rescues 102 animals from unregistered organization

The animals are being cared for right now by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. NEWS10 has learned that around 50 of those animals began their journey in southern Texas. They were staying in the City of Harlingen and traveled about 2,000 miles to Cohoes, New York.

The question now, is why?

The Rio Grande Valley Humane Society in Texas was facing issues in its ability to house animals in need. They reached out for help and Empawthy Animal Rescue Inc. took that call.  Around 50 of their animals were shipped to the Capital Region. The only problem, Empawthy is not a licensed shelter.
