PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man who is alleged to have attacked two off-duty Pittsfield officers has been arraigned on multiple drug, firearm, and assault charges.
According to Pittsfield Police, on January 26th Officers Ladd and Wineberg were off-duty and walking along North Street when they found a man lying on the road near Union Street. The man appeared to be having a medical emergency so the officers quickly applied first aid.

The man, later identified as 36-year-old Charles Crosby , became agitated and allegedly attempted to assault the officers. The officers tried to calm him down and identified themselves as police. During the incident, the officers observed a firearm in the man’s waistband.
Crosby continued to struggle with officers after backup was called and they used a stun gun to bring him under control. Officers searched him and found a large amount of prescription pills and other substances believed to be heroin and cocaine.
