Two members of that team brought one of their rockets to the NEWS10 studio Sunday to explain what went into their most recent launch at Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

“We used a commercial motor to send this rocket up past 46,000 feet in elevation,” explained sophomore aerospace engineering major Kate Morgan.

The team has come a long way, according to junior aerospace engineering major Lucas Long.

“It’s a big accomplishment because we started in a field launching cardboard rockets, and now, we’re fabricating everything in-house,” Long said. “Our dreams are becoming a reality through RPI.”
