SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) -Close friends and family of Samantha Humphrey gathered to remember the girl who would have turned 16. Her father said they are trying their best to honor Samantha without anger and frustration.
“You remember somebody who you lost who was a joy to you and part of that memory has to be joyful. You have to find a way to get there,” said Jeff Humphrey.

Jeff and his sister decorated the Fifth Avenue Banquet Hall with Sam’s favorite colors and flowers. Her father even brought record players to fill the hall with sentimental sounds.
“They have a record player in basically every room of their home. She loved music her dad and I listened to which is kind of unusual for a kid,” explained Samantha’s Aunt, Nica Joy.”
Friends from school also came to laugh and cry as they looked back on their favorite memories.

“She went bowling and she decided she wanted to walk on the alley. She fell and she sat there for like an hour laughing at herself,” exclaimed Brielle Childs.
