Albany Police investigating Ontario Street homicide

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Albany Police are investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday night around 10 p.m. on Ontario Street. Police say 34-year-old Ashad Cooper was taken to Albany Medical Center by another person where he was pronounced dead.

Police responded to the area of Ontario Street and First Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police say they found evidence consistent with gunfire. While at the scene, police received a call regarding a walk-in gunshot victim at Albany Medical Center.

Albany Police say the victim was involved in several physical altercations throughout the day. Police say he was shot in the neck by an unknown suspect during the last altercation.
