In the running is Jack with his owner, Amy. Amy rescued Jack from Out Of The Pits in Albany, a pit bull rescue. At the time of his rescue, Jack had advanced heartworm disease with little chance of being adopted.

Today, with the care of his veterinarians and Amy’s guidance, Jack is now heartworm-free but still deals with lifelong secondary health issues as a result. Despite this, Jack is described as “a very chatty fella” who loves humans and animals alike. Get to know Jack, the local dog in the running for America’s Favorite Pet.

Amy says she rescued Jack after a “very kind and empathetic young woman” in Mobile, Alabama, realized Jack was special, but knew there was little chance of him being adopted since he was a hospice dog.
