ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Landmark Spectrum 8 Theatre in Albany will officially be closing its doors next week, as first reported by the Times Union . The theater’s last screening will be held on February 22, according to a statement from Landmark.

Located at 290 Delaware Avenue, the Spectrum 8 has been in operation for over 30 years. Equipped with eight screens, the theater provided movie-goers in the area with a wide array of entertainment, showcasing a mix of independent and foreign language films as well as the latest Hollywood blockbusters.
“Landmark Theatres is constantly evaluating its business strategy and has decided to close the Landmark Spectrum Theatre. We are proud to have served the community over its many years of operation. We look forward to adding new Landmark Theatres soon.” the company stated.

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan also issued a statement on the closing, saying “I am confident the closure of the Spectrum Theatre will be temporary. I have been in contact with representatives from one of the prospective parties interested in operating the Theatre and look forward to there being a new operator so the shows on Delaware Avenue can go on.”
