Man seriously injures hand with fireworks in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Schenectady Police Department is investigating after a 43-year-old man seriously injured his hand due to fireworks. Police said the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.

“This is a stark reminder that explosive fireworks are dangerous and they are illegal to possess in Schenectady,” said Schenectady police. “Please celebrate safely and responsibly today.”

Officials remind the public to leave the fireworks to the professionals. Several other places around the Capital Region including Albany County and Troy have also banned the use of fireworks.
