9/9/2024: Nice start, then chance showers & storms

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Crystal clear skies overnight have allowed us to get pretty chilly early on this Wednesday morning. Albany got down to around 50, most were into the 40’s, and a few in the Adirondacks and Catskills were in the 30’s!

A quick hitting weather system pushes in from the west today, bringing more clouds after lunchtime. High temperatures peak around 70.

Mid to late afternoon will feature scattered showers, with a few pockets of steadier, heavier rain as well.

One or two stronger thunderstorms could also develop. While a low-end threat, they are more likely from Albany to the west, with gusty winds being the main concern.

Tonight, showers gradually taper off. While temperatures won’t be quite as cool as this morning, they’ll still end up a couple degrees below average.

Dry weather is likely by daybreak Tuesday, with clearing skies through the late morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures start to trend warmer with the sustained sunshine, peaking in the mid 70’s for much of the Capital District.
