APD: Teen arrested for bringing pellet gun to school

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Police arrested a teen who brought a pellet gun into Albany High School on Wednesday. Law enforcement said the name of the 17-year-old student won’t be released, and they were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Police responded to Albany High School around 9:50 a.m. after staff called them about a pellet gun allegedly being in a student’s backpack. The weapon was discovered during a routine security check when entering the school.

The Albany Police Department resource officer detained and took the student into custody. They were released to a parent and will appear in Albany City Criminal Court at a later date.
