Juveniles charged after fleeing stolen vehicle incident in Albany

Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr., reports the arrests of two 13-year-old juveniles for felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property charges. At approximately 8:06 p.m. Wednesday, Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Second Avenue and Putnam Street in the City of Albany on a 2018 Kia that had been reported stolen out of Troy just an hour prior. After the deputies activated the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights, they say, the 13-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle struck two unoccupied parked vehicles, and one occupied parked vehicle, after which the three occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot. Ultimately two juveniles, one being the operator of the vehicle, were apprehended and taken into custody. The two occupants of the vehicle that was struck were transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital for evaluation.
