Remembering Amanda Rivenburg: 6 years after Schoharie limo crash

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) – Amanda Rivenburg was one of the 20 people who lost their lives in the 2018 Schoharie limo crash. Living Resources, the non-profit where Amanda worked for more than seven years, is on a mission to keep her memory alive.

The beloved member of the staff was dedicated to her role supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to her colleagues. Six years after her passing, Amanda’s memory is still being remembered at Living Resources, from an apple tree planted in her memory to the Amanda R. Rivenburg Rising Phoenix Award that celebrates employees exemplifying her work ethic.

“She definitely went above and beyond in any way possible to kind of help the people live the best life they could live. If we could all go on and honor her that way, that’s very meaningful,” said Theresa Richards, the 2024 Rising Phoenix Award recipient.

In June, the Amanda R. Rivenburg Memorial Scholarship Fund was established with an initial investment from Amanda’s father, Thomas Rivenburg, and is being matched by the Living Resources Foundation. Living Resources said preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in Social Work or a related field.
