Red Cross assisting 8 after Schenectady fire

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WRGB) – The American Red Cross is assisting eight people who made it out of a two-family home that caught fire Saturday morning, a spokesperson confirmed. According to Schenectady Fire Chief Donald Mareno, the department responded at approximately 1:45 a.m. Saturday for a reported fire at 2037 Fairview Avenue. On arrival, crews said they encountered heavy fire in the attic.
