BALLSTON SPA, NY ( NEWS10 ) — The two-seed in the Class A Grasso Division was up for grabs between Ballston Spa and Queensbury Friday night. In the final game of the regular season, the winner would secure a home playoff game.
The Spartans led 9-7 at the half, and would extend that lead to 16-7 in the third quarter. The Scotties answered with 21 unanswered points, taking a 28-16 lead on their way to a 28-23 win.
The Scotties secured a home playoff game with the win.
“It means the world to these guys,” said head coach Jason Ohnsman. “We’ve been talking about it all week and they understood the gravity of this game and how important it was. That’s a tough football team. They’re in it every year. I think tonight showed a little bit of our newfound resilience over the last month. We kind of reconvened a little bit at that Burnt Hills game. I talked about some of things we have to do better if we really want to have the season the seniors talked about. Getting that home playoff game is awesome.”
