Senior Investigator Carey was 65 years old when he passed, according to his obituary. Troopers say his passing had to do with an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the September 11, 2001 attack.
He retired from the New York State Police after 32 years of dedicated service on July 30, 2014. Senior Investigator Carey’s last assignment was to Troop G’s Forensic Investigation Unit.
Calling hours are on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam. The funeral service is on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the same location.
