Paul Tonko wins reelection in NY’s 20th congressional district

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Democrat Paul Tonko has won reelection in New York’s 20th congressional district. The Associated Press has called the race for Tonko over Republican challenger Kevin Waltz.

“I am honored to have NY-20 voters placing their trust in me once again,” said Tonko in a statement after AP called the race. “Throughout this campaign, I’ve heard from families across our district about the issues that matter most: creating good-paying jobs, making healthcare more affordable, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and ensuring our children have access to quality education.”

New York’s 20th congressional district includes Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga Counties. This is Tonko’s ninth term in Congress.

In his candidate interview with NEWS10 , Tonko said he was hoping to pass a bill to prevent mobile sports betting companies from targeting young people.
