ALBANY —Stuyvesant Plaza announced Athleta and Vineyard Vines will be the outdoor mall’s two newest tenants, each expected to open early next year.
Founded in 1998, Athleta is a women’s activewear brand that empowers women and girls through performance-driven apparel. Initially a standalone company, Athleta was acquired by Gap Inc. in 2008, joining a family of brands that value quality and innovation. Specializing in technical, high-functioning fabrics and designs, Athleta’s clothing supports a wide range of activities, from running and yoga to swimming and hiking.
In addition to its products, Athleta is known for its collaborations with high-profile athletes, including gymnastics champion Simone Biles. Through its clothing, partnerships, and initiatives, Athleta champions an inclusive vision for activewear that celebrates women’s strength and supports their pursuits in all aspects of life.
Vineyard Vines was born out of a shared dream between brothers Shep and Ian Murray, who spent their summers enjoying the “Good Life” on Martha’s Vineyard with friends and family. In 1998, stuck in uninspiring desk jobs, they made a bold decision: they quit, trading their business suits for bathing suits and diving headfirst into entrepreneurship. With no shortage of courage, they walked out of their jobs within minutes of each other and began chasing the American Dream.
