Mechanicville Deputy Fire Chief Matt Dunn said the fire was controlled by 9:15 a.m., and everyone safely exited the home. Dunn said the cause of the fire is under investigation and is not considered suspicious.

Chief Dunn also said the fire originally started on the second floor. Kiersten and Denise Reed live right near the fire and they recalled hearing screams Saturday morning.

“I was in my living room in my recliner and I heard some noise outside yelling and such, and I heard the fire alarm, you know the siren for the fire department, then I heard a police officer with the sirens pull up in front of the house, so that’s when I got up and noticed that the fire was coming out the windows of the building,” said Denise Reed.
