Pipe burst at St. Peter’s reroutes ambulances; emergency care stays open

Albany, NY (WRGB) – A pipe burst at St. Peter’s Hospital Monday around 2:15 a.m. damaging the medical imaging department, according to hospital representatives. Damage was reportedly contained solely to that area. As this impacted our medical imaging equipment, the Emergency Department temporarily initiated ambulance diversions to other area hospitals. The Emergency Department never closed and remains fully operational and continues to accept walk-in patients. Our Facilities, Environmental Services, Infection Control, and restoration teams have plans in place for these kinds of events and are actively working to reroute services and clean the area so that we can return to normal operations as soon as possible. The issue is contained, and patients are being cared for. Some patients are receiving imaging services in the outpatient imaging suite we operate on our campus at 319 South Manning Blvd. Again, the impact is largely on ambulance traffic. In the meantime, we are coordinating with our regional healthcare partners to ensure uninterrupted care for all patients, including facilitating transfers, when necessary.
