ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — While Christmas is not a holiday for everybody, some who don’t celebrate used it as a way to give back to the community this year. The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York hosted its “Jewish Day of Service” on Wednesday.

Dozens of volunteers supported 10 different sites and events. They made hot breakfast at the Albany Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and baked desserts for families at the Ronald McDonald House.
Organizers say it’s a way to make the holiday their own. “We get to spread some joy, and it’s a way for us to be together as a community. I have more than 60 volunteers working from the Jewish Federation all across the community, so its really nice for all of us to be together. We look forward to doing this on Christmas for the greater community.”
This marks the second year in a row for the organization to have hosted a day of service on Christmas.
