Second arrest made in fatal Amsterdam shooting

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– A second arrest was made in a fatal shooting on James Street on December 18. Freyland Sanyet-Malpica, 40, faces multiple charges for his alleged involvement.

On December 18, around 7:20 p.m., the Montgomery County 911 dispatch center received numerous calls reporting shots fired near 60 James Street. When police arrived, they located a 34-year-old man in the roadway.

The man was later identified as Robert Green Jr , who succumbed to his injuries at Albany Medical Center, a day later. As police began investigating, they arrested Angel Morales, 30, for murder in the second degree, a class A-1 felony.

According to police, they continued to investigate leading to a second arrest. Sanyet-Malpica was arrested on December 30 after the investigation reportedly revealed he was involved in the shooting.

Sanyet-Malpica was found on Slater Street and taken into custody as police executed a search warrant. He was charged with murder in the second degree, a class A-1 felony and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony.
