Albany man charged in Third Street burglary, assault; gun and drugs seized

An Albany man has been charged in connection with a domestic-related incident that occurred on Third Street Friday night.

On Friday, January 24, 2025 at around 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a residence on the 300 block of Third Street for report of a person with a weapon. When they arrived, officers learned that Billy Rodriguez, 24, had unlawfully entered the victim’s home. While inside, Rodriguez threatened the victim with a handgun and struck her in the head, causing injury. Rodriguez then fled the scene on foot. Shortly after the call was dispatched, an on-duty Albany police officer observed Rodriguez on foot in the area of Third Street and North Lake Avenue and attempted to stop him. Rodriguez ran from the officer but was quickly apprehended. During his arrest, Rodriguez was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of fentanyl.

The victim was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to St. Peter’s Hospital for further treatment…
