Gloversville woman charged with animal abuse

SCHODACK, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Town of Schodack Police Department (SPD) reported the arrest of a Gloversville woman after an animal abuse investigation. Jasmine McDonald, 22, faces several charges.

On February 5 around 10:20 a.m., police received a report of two loose dogs on Schuurman Road. A responding dog control officer found a one to two-year-old Akita mix and a 10 to 12-week-old German Shepherd puppy who were both in poor health.

Schodack Police stated both dogs are being cared for after receiving veterinary aid for malnourishment and other ailments. On February 19, McDonald turned herself in to SPD during the investigation and now faces the following charges:

Misdemeanors

  • Two counts of overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance
  • Two counts of abandonment of animals

Violations

  • Two counts of failure to confine or restrain
  • Failure to license, failure to vaccinate

McDonald was released after processing and is scheduled to appear at Schodack Town Court in March.
