Vermont man may face the death penalty in drug crime that killed two western Mass. men

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WWLP) – A federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment on Thursday that charged a Vermont man with using a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking crime, resulting in the deaths of two Massachusetts men.

Court records stated that on October 12, 2023, 29-year-old Theodore Bland of Stowe, Vt. carried and discharged a firearm related to drug trafficking operations. The records further stated that the use of Bland’s firearm caused the deaths of 21-year-old Jahim Solomon of Pittsfield and 21-year-old Eric White of Chicopee.

Bland allegedly used social media to message his co-conspirators regarding procuring, pricing, and distributing controlled substances to drug customers. Bland also was alleged to have sent messages after the deaths of Solomon and White, conspiring about how to cover up the homicides.

The court documents state that Bland allegedly recruited others to assist him in moving the bodies of the two deceased men to separate wooded areas in Eden, Vt., where the bodies were later found by law enforcement on October 24 and 25, 2023.

On September 20, 2024, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Bland with conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, possession of cocaine base and fentanyl with intent to distribute, using and carrying a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, and discharging that firearm during the commission of the offense…
