WNY Company Closing, Firing More Than 100 Workers

The Buffalo area is losing over 100 jobs as a company closes up shop. More than 100 employees will be looking for new jobs after a company decided to leave Western New York.

Recently, I’ve heard about more jobs ending than companies hiring. I hope that we are not headed into a recession. Grocery prices, including eggs, have not gone down, and now, even more New Yorkers don’t have jobs. According to the most recent jobs report by the United States Department of Labor,

“Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 151,000 in February, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.1 percent. Employment trended up in health care, financial activities, transportation and warehousing, and social assistance. Federal government employment declined.”

Thankfully, the data shows that the national unemployment rate, as of February, has not changed significantly. It remained between 4.0 percent to 4.2 percent since May of 2024. As of December 2024, the unemployment rate in New York State is slightly higher than the national unemployment rate of 4.1 during the same month.
