One person charged after pedestrian is killed in Wolf Road crash

COLONIE — A 37-year-old was charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident after a pedestrian was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash early Friday morning on Wolf Road, Colonie police said.

Heath R. Mabeus was arrested Saturday morning at his Clifton Park home following an agency-wide search for the driver that struck 58-year-old Migdalia Aulet, police said in a news release. The Schenectady woman was killed around 6:30 a.m. Friday while crossing Wolf Road near Beltrone Drive. Aulet was not in a crosswalk when she was hit, police said. Witnesses said the driver fled the crash, and Aulet died at the scene, police said.

Police remained at the scene for hours, searching for witnesses and an SUV with front-end damage. The Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office and the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center assisted in the search, the release said. Traffic was detoured for hours between Metro Park Road and Marcus Boulevard…
