Former Niskayuna teacher faces backlash after admitting to touching women

NISKAYUNA — At first, Michael Dickerson was a national symbol of some Democrats’ displeasure with how their leaders are dealing with President Donald J. Trump’s administration.

A video of the now former Niskayuna High School social studies teacher speaking at a town hall event at Albany High School last month, after he stood up and encouraged Democratic Congressman Paul Tonko to do more to protest the president’s actions, made the viral rounds on social media as well as earning mention on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC newscast.

Then, Dickerson let it be known he had been placed on leave by the school district — and he would be holding a “teach-in” at Niskayuna Town Hall’s gazebo on March 9. His announcement said little about the event’s topic, but included a screenshot from the Albany High School video with the words “rapid response resistance.”…
