Peaches the dog finds forever home after brutal attack

HUDSON, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Four years after almost being decapitated by a samurai sword, Peaches the dog has officially found her forever home. Haleigh Miller was able to adopt her after two-and-a-half years of fostering.

“My friend sent me the whole story on her, and I followed it for about a year, and then I was like, ‘Alright. I gotta go get her.’ So I came here and started fostering her,” explained Miller.

She spent 2021 healing at Columbia-Greene Humane Society with President Ron Perez. Peaches was available to foster in 2022 after recovering from multiple surgeries costing in the thousands of dollars.

Miller described to NEWS10’s Anthony Krolikowski that Peaches was skittish towards her at first. To help, the two spent three weeks at home together. She still doesn’t like car rides but came around after getting some toys and living on a hobby farm.

Eventually, Peaches even got her own job as a cattle dog. “During the summer, we do let our goats out and free range, and we leave her out just to protect because she’s very protective of her animals. When it comes time to bring ‘em in, she does her job and herds them all back into the door.”…
