BUFFALO, N.Y. — The requirement to have a REAL ID is fast approaching for anyone wishing to travel domestically or enter some federal buildings in the United States.
The deadline is May 7, 2025.
What is a REAL ID?
According to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, a REAL ID is a federally compliant DMV-issued driver license, learner permit, or non-driver ID that will be required to board a domestic flight (within the U.S.) or enter certain federal buildings starting in May 2025, unless you have a valid passport or enhanced NYS ID.
