Two arrested in connection with Menands senior scam

MENANDS, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Menands Police Department has arrested two suspects who allegedly took part in a scam to steal money from seniors. Melissa Christie-Cameron, 30, and Naphtorley Wilson, 29, both of Albany were arrested after a months-long investigation.

Both suspects are said to have ties to the Capital Region and Jamaica, with Wilson also having connections to New York City. They were arraigned in Menands Village Court and released with scheduled court appearances.

Police said more arrests may follow as the investigation continues. The Menands Police Department also shared the following tips on how to stay safe from scams:

  • Never share personal or financial information with anyone who is not verified
  • If someone calls you saying they are with a company you do not recognize, pressuring to give you money, hang up immediately and call the official business number to verify
  • Scams can be convincing if someone is using artificial intelligence so be weary

Everyone can always report scams to their local law enforcement agencies.
