SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WRGB) — A mother is speaking out against the Schalmont Central School District, claiming that her 10-year-old child’s education has been mishandled for years.
The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said her child, diagnosed with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, has had an Individualized Education Program (IEP) since entering the district. However, she accuses the school of not adhering to the IEP.
The family claims to have maintained records and communications since the issues began in 2021. The school district told CBS6 families in a situation like this one are offered educational options based on needs identified by the Committee on Special Education.
