Real ID deadline: What if I already have a passport?

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With less than a month left before the implementation of new federal Real ID air travel requirements, some frequent fliers may be wondering if they need to upgrade their driver’s license even if they already have a valid U.S. passport.

Starting May 7, the federal government will require those boarding domestic flights and entering some federal buildings to carry a driver’s license or other identification card that is Real ID compliant.
