Huge shake-up in California wine industry: New York brand off-loads brands, picked up by new owner

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Constellation Brands, headquartered in Rochester, has announced a major divestiture from its wine portfolio, striking a deal with The Wine Group to sell off several mainstream wine brands and associated vineyards and facilities. The transaction, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close after the company’s fiscal Q1 2026.

The brands being sold include Woodbridge, Meiomi, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Cook’s, SIMI, and J. Rogét.

Constellation will retain high-end labels from Napa Valley, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, and Oregon, including The Prisoner Wine Company and Sea Smoke. The company also continues its focus on premium spirits like Robert Mondavi, Casa Noble and High West.
