Trash into treasure at ReStore in Colonie

They say one person’s trash is another’s treasure, and to find some local evidence of that, look no further than the ReStore in Colonie run by the Habitat for Humanity Capital District, one of the four regional affiliates of Habitat International.

As ReStore Director Dave Harrison explained, companies coordinating house clean-outs will often stop by the store if they believe they have something of value that, for whatever reason, the original owners have discarded. In this case, it was three large pieces of artwork created by Israel-based artist Jean-Pierre Weill that had ended up in a dumpster.

“Usually when we get artwork, it’s sort of standard, framed prints, things like that,” Harrison says. “This one just happened to be a jackpot.”…
