Looks like things are heating up in the kitchen! After the announcement that Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made concerning changing the name of the New York Strip to the Texas Strip, it doesn’t seem like our friends up in New York are totally okay with that.
A couple of New York restaurants are firing back at Patrick’s rebranding, and it’s not sounding cheap. According to 6 News in Albany, the owner of the War Room Tavern in Albany, Todd Shapiro, is planning to file a lawsuit against the entire state of Texas for $1 million alleging that the rebranding of the New York Strip “infringes upon New York’s cultural heritage and poses economic harm to businesses that rely on the recognition and popularity of the New York strip steak.”
