Alive at Five returning downtown

ALBANY — Alive at Five is returning downtown this summer.

Relocating the popular free summer concert series from its longtime home at Jennings Landing to its original home on Broadway is aimed at encouraging attendees to spend more time downtown, said Mayor Sheehan Wednesday, and was the result of conversations with the Downtown BID, Capitalize Albany and local businesses.

The announcement, first reported by Metroland , coincides with groundbreaking on the $1.25 million renovation of Tricentennial Park along Broadway and Columbia Street. The project will improve accessibility, plant additional trees, address drainage issues and open the park for year-round use…
