Home care workers still concerned over paychecks from new company

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) – NEWS10 has been following the state’s at-home care transition closely. The state went from more than 600 fiscal intermediaries, middlemen that facilitated payments to personal assistants, to one – Public Partnerships LLC (PPL).

According to PPL, 130,000 home care workers – enrolled in CDPAP – had been issued checks after the second pay cycle. That’s up from 110,000 checks the company reported it issued during the first pay cycle. PPL expects that number to be at 155,000 by the next payroll.

However, CDPAP participants rallied at the capitol, again, and called on the governor and lawmakers to take immediate actions because organizers like Ilana Berger said…

“Some are not getting paid at all. Some are not getting paid for the full hours that they work. All of that means that there are people who are basically making minimum wage, who are making the choice – who have no savings – who are making the choice to continue working because they care for the people they support. But it means at some point they’re gonna have to stop because they have to pay their rent. They have to pay the bills,” said Berger, who is the Political Director for the Caring Majority Rising…
