Man arraigned for ATM break-ins in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on Thursday for multiple break-ins and attempted break-ins in Pittsfield.

The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office stated that 39-year-old George Bliss was charged with a string of break-ins and break-in attempts, all occurring at the ATMs inside and outside TDB Bank on 99 West Street in Pittsfield.

The incidents occurred this year on February 15, March 1, March 4, April 1, and April 11. Bank surveillance footage identified Bliss as the suspect in all five incidents and observed him using tools such as a knife, crowbar, and screwdriver to break into the ATMs.

Bliss was able to obtain at least $720 in the break-ins, and the damages to the ATMs from the incidents amounted to $14,733.82. During this time, Pittsfield Police also arrested Bliss on March 31 on an unrelated incident and charged him with Larceny from a Person and Possession of Cocaine…
