SCHENECTADY — A city businessman already serving prison time for his role in a mafia-linked cocaine ring and his wife were sentenced Friday in a separate case in which the two admitted to exploiting pandemic-related government programs and committing insurance fraud .
Jeffrey Civitello Sr. will serve one to three years in state prison and Patricia Civitello will spend the next five years on probation under sentences imposed by Schenectady County Judge Matthew Sypniewski.
Jeffrey Civitello Sr., the owner of Focus Construction in Schenectady, and his wife pleaded guilty Feb. 14 to the charges in a 143-count indictment accusing them of fraud, theft, tax crimes and scores of counts of both falsifying business records and filing false documents . Civitello and his older son are currently in federal custody — alongside Bonanno crime family associate Richard Sinde — for conspiring to traffic $600,000 in cocaine from New York City to Schenectady in Jeffrey Civitello Jr.’s Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2021…
