Albany area lawyer pleads not guilty to 21-count indictment

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Capital Region lawyer pleaded not guilty to a 21-count indictment in Albany County Court on Friday. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Luke Malamood, 40, was arrested in connection with several different incidents.

Charges

  • 13 counts of second-degree criminal contempt, disobeying a court order
  • Two counts of petit larceny
  • Third-degree robbery
  • Two counts of third-degree attempted assault
  • Second-degree assault
  • Second-degree robbery
  • Second-degree menacing

The DA’s office said the charges stem from incidents in 2024 and 2025. In July and August 2024, Malamood allegedly violated an Albany County Family Court order of protection in Colonie.

Malamood was also charged with allegedly stealing alcohol from Market 32 on Central Avenue in Albany and trying to bite an officer during his arrest. He was arrested again on April 24 and is accused of hitting a woman in his home and trying to steal property from her. Following his arraignment, Malamood was remanded to Albany County Jail.
