Buildings across NYS to light up red in honor of fallen firefighters

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Landmarks across New York State will be lit red on Saturday night in honor of Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, according to Governor Kathy Hochul. Five buildings in the Capital Region will join in the illumination.

Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters is a nationally recognized memorial effort for firefighters that have lost their lives in the line of duty. The illumination comes during National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, with International Firefighter’s Day on Sunday.

“New York will never forget the sacrifice, bravery, and selfless commitment of the brave men and women we honor this Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend,” Governor Hochul said. “We stand with the families and loved ones of the fallen, and with all New Yorkers who put their lives on the line every day, running towards danger to keep our communities safe.”…
