Arson charges filed in Schenectady car shop fire

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A man has been charged with arson in connection to a fire at a Schenectady car shop.

Fire officials said they were called Tuesday morning to Sierra Motors on State Street for a report of two cars on fire. Police said 41-year-old Aundrea Blunt was arrested and charged with third degree arson.

Sierra Motors owner Waheedullah Popal said the cars are insured. He said Blunt got into one of his cars when everything happened.

“All the windows got blurry, and he got out of the vehicle,” he said. “The first vehicle just got blown and the fire started. And as soon as the fire started, I think somebody was just driving on the road and just saw this incident and called 911.”…
