Brian Briggs, 32, of Albany, was taken into custody early Monday, May 12, after officers responded to reports of a trespasser at Townsend Park Apartments on Central Avenue, according to Albany Police.
When officers approached Briggs around 2:20 a.m., he became combative and refused to follow commands, police said. During the struggle, Briggs put one officer in a chokehold and punched another in the face, injuring the officer’s nose, according to police. He was eventually subdued and arrested.
Briggs was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on charges of assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, resisting arrest, and related charges. A judge then released him under the supervision of Albany County Probation…
