Judge rules against Albany diocese in St. Clare’s pension case

SCHENECTADY — A state judge ruled Wednesday that the civil case brought on behalf of 1,100 former St. Clare’s Hospital workers against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany over the hospital’s busted pension plan will proceed to trial, six years after the initial lawsuit was filed.

In a sweeping decision that addressed seven motions that were argued in state Supreme Court in Schenectady County last month, acting state Supreme Court Justice Vincent Versaci denied all of the defendant’s motions to dismiss the case.
