Prison closures weren’t considered before CO strike

ALBANY, New York (WWNY) – State prison closures weren’t being considered in Albany until corrections officers went on strike.

At a hearing in Albany on Wednesday, Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Commissioner Daniel Martuscello said prison closures weren’t in the governor’s original budget proposal, but that changed after the strikes began in February.
