Criminal charges unlikely in crash that killed walker on Krumkill Road, chief says

ALBANY — Police Chief Brendan Cox says it is unlikely criminal charges will be filed against the driver of a car that drove onto a Krumkill Road sidewalk last year and killed 50-year-old Jason Steinberg.

Investigators assigned to the case are expected to soon discuss the crash with the Albany County District Attorney’s office to make a final determination, the chief said.

But he said, “I don’t believe there’ll be a criminal action.” The cause of the crash, he said, was likely to be blamed on driver distraction or inattention…
