ALBANY — Shortly after joining Albany Pro Musica in 2014 as artistic director, Daniel Flores-Caraballo was advised by board member Margery G. Whiteman to “take it slow.”
Ten years later, a teary-eyed Whiteman approached the composer, reminded him of that interaction a decade prior and told him how proud she was with how far the organization had come. In return, he told her how much he appreciated her wisdom.
That moment in time lives on in the mind of Flores-Caraballo four days after Whiteman — a major Capital Region philanthropist, volunteer and activist — died on Wednesday due to complications with lung cancer. She was 84 years old…
