SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The New York State Attorney General’s Office will be hosting a gun buyback event in Schenectady on June 21. Several police departments from around Schenectady County will participate in the program.

Attendees should bring their guns unloaded and placed in a plastic bag, paper bag or a box. Individuals can surrender as many guns as they wish. Gun parts will not be accepted and licensed gun dealers are not eligible for this event.
Payment amount, which will be made via pre-paid gift card, will depend on what type of gun is surrendered. A full list of prices can be seen below. Anyone bringing a homemade or 3D-printed gun will only receive $25 total, regardless of how many guns are surrendered.
Payment per gun
- Assault rifle — $750
- Semi-automatic handguns — $250
- Revolvers — $100
- Rifle or shotgun — $75
- Non-working, replica, antique, homemade or 3D printed gun — $25
New York State Police, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office and police departments from Schenectady, Niskayuna, Rotterdam, Glenville and Scotia will be participating in the event. Because this is an amnesty program, individuals will not be asked any questions about their possession of the firearms being surrendered…
