Woofstock festival returns to support animal welfare in the Capital Region

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Woofstock 5K, Walk-a-thon, and Music Festival is back, marking its place as one of the Capital Region’s largest outdoor fundraising events for dogs. The festival supports the Animal Protective Foundation, which plays a crucial role in animal welfare through various initiatives.

Joe Lisella, CEO of the Animal Protective Foundation, emphasized the significance of the event. “We’re doing 4,000 public surgeries every year. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have that pet population at a level like we have right now,” he said.

Lisella highlighted the foundation’s efforts to provide veterinary care to those in financial need. “The final thing that we really do that distinguishes us is we do community patronage. This place is where people who are financially struggling can come to one of these clinics and get access to veterinary care, which is a big, big problem, especially for people who are struggling financially,” he said. “We’re doing over a hundred animals a day, doing one of these every single month. So it’s our way of giving back to the community.”…
