Pride flag raised in Albany’s Washington Park

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A bright rainbow flag is now waving high above Washington Park to kick off Pride Month in the city of Albany.

City leaders gathered for the ceremonial flag raising on Sunday. Mayor Kathy Sheehan was in attendance and reflected the importance of supporting the LGBTQ community.

The flag raising marked the start of several Pride events in the region, including the Capital Pride Parade and Festival happening in Washington Park on Sunday, June 8. Pride at the Plaza also returns from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.
